La Iscariense, within its strategy of innovation, is developing the project ‘SAYO: DEVELOPMENT OF ECOLOGICAL BAKING PRODUCTS BASED ON HYPERPROTEIC, SUPERFOODS AND ACHICORIA FLOURS FOR THE SENIOR PUBLIC’, together with other three companies of the agri-food sector of Castilla y León The project, granted by the Technical and Industrial Development Center (CDTI), is part of the INTERCONECTA FEDER Program, aimed at fostering regional cooperation in R & D, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2017-2020. The aid granted will be co-financed with FEDER funds, through the “Plurirregional Operational Program of Spain 2014-2020”.

This project is part of the union of four companies from Castilla y León linked to the agri-food sector and with great interest in innovation; Tabuenca SA (horticultural products), Emilio Esteban SA (flours and flakes), La Iscariense SA (snacks and plant products in general) and Casa Santiveri SL (dietetic food and food supplements). Each partner will develop what they do best, and then integrate it into a product or final products and achieve an innovative solution built through the sum of efforts, resources and the mix of knowledge of all of them.

The general objective of this project is the design and development of a range of easily chewed and swallowed bread products for seniors, made from organic vegetables, composed of inulin and calcium-rich concentrates, nutritionally balanced, with a contribution reduced in sugars and complemented with flours / flakes with a complete amino acid profile from the combination of cereals and organic legumes. The total budget of the project amounts to € 1,152,274, of which 47% is financed by CDTI, distributed between 2018, 2019 and 2020.
